The team arrived at the venue at 9pm on this Sunday night in the hope of finding the spirits of Blaydes House. On arrival a short tour of the building took place for those who hadn’t been in the building before.
Then at around 9.30pm the investigation began, with a circle of energy being built, by a linking of hands.
The linking of hands is designed to create a solid circle of energy between all the investigators. This is to create a beacon of light which spirits would be drawn to, this is also a time when a prayer of protection can be said.
9.45pm The P&O Room
The investigation in this beautiful room started with a séance. The group linked hands and asked out for spirits to communicate in anyway possible.
Sam and Jo led the requests and immediately things started to happen all around the group. It was asked if the spirits could do anything possible to prove they were there with us that evening, to make a knocking or tapping sound, to affect the group in some way, to bang a door, or to affect electricity by maybe turning on a light. No sooner had it been asked for a light to be switched on when a dim light shone under the door. The light was coming from the landing area outside the P&O room, which is where the beacon of light had been created only minutes earlier. On investigation of this it was found that the light on the landing was infact on and shining brightly. This light, as were all the lights, were definitely switched off before we entered the P&O room.
The Hall and Landing
As this seemed to be an area of paranormal activity it was decided that the investigation should now continue on the landing. All the team sat on the stairs and Jo swung the chandelier round in a clockwise direction and asked if there were any spirits present if they could stop the light and try to spin it in an anticlockwise direction to prove they were there with us. Immediately the chandelier slowed down to a stop and then began to circle in an anticlockwise direction, so the spirits were thanked and asked to stop it again and spin it in back in a clockwise direction. Again within seconds the light stopped and then spun in a clockwise direction.
The Tabernacle Room
It was decided that as we were on the stairs we should now go to the Tabernacle room. This is where pictures have been taken before of an eerie couple standing in the doorway. Not much happened in this room. It was noted that this room was unusually cold, a lot colder than all the other rooms in the building on this occasion. Sam also said that the name Isabella popped into her head in this room, so the Historian Mike will be checking the history of Blaydes for the existence of a lady with this name.
Break
The Library
After a short break it was decided to go to the library; this room was unusually warm. The group stood down the central aisle and asked out for spirits to make contact with us once again. We heard small taps on occasions from all areas of the room. The group seemed to be quite on edge in this room. Sam felt a small tugging sensation on her hand which made her jump. Then Susan thought she felt someone gently touch her head. We moved to the back wall of this room to see if we could encourage any activity and Mike placed himself down on a box. Mike was the only one to be seated at this time and as the other group members asked out he suddenly jumped from his seated position and informed the group that he saw what seemed to be a small boy bobbing down behind the shelving, where we had earlier been standing. He even went on to describe the boy in detail.
“He had bob length mousey brown hair, and looked
as though he would be aged approximately 6 or 7...
It was like he was playing hide and seek with me as
he was bobbing up and down behind the shelving”
After standing in this room for a little while longer and hearing small tapping sounds it was decided to move on.
The Attic
The group placed themselves around this very dark attic and asked out once again. It has been known here in the past that a medium did pick up on the spirit of a man who would have been the “Keeper of the Books”. So we asked out for him. Immediately came a very large bang and the air conditioning system started to make strange noises. The library temperature/humidity is monitored in the attic by the air conditioning system and this fluctuated like crazy whilst we asked out. The group, by this time, were on edge as this was proving to be quite unnerving. After the activity in the Attic it was decided by the whole group to take another break. This was to re-build energy.
The Pilgrim Trust Room
The Pilgrim Trust Room was to be our last port of call for this evenings investigation. On entering this room we decided that a séance might be good to build up energy again. So the tables were moved to make more space for the team to sit around just one table. We all linked hands to begin the séance. Small noises were heard on request but only very minimal ones and not much to note happened here either. It was thought by the team that maybe the energies of Blaydes had died down for the evening and that we should call it a night. Therefore, we all retired to Jo’s office to shut down the investigation and inform the spirits that they were to stay at Blaydes House and not to follow any of us home.
The team left Blaydes House at around 12.15am after a thoroughly enjoyable but fairly jumpy night.
N.B… Steve went home that night and tried to replicate the chandelier swinging on the landing at home. Says Steve “ I did it and found it impossible to get the light to stop itself and then swing in the opposite direction.”
So we leave it to you….was it the spirits of Blaydes House proving their existence?

Due to this being a private residency it has been decided by the owners, that they would like the venue to remain anonymous. Ghosttrackers would like to thank the owners of this venue, their home, for letting us in to investigate their potential haunting.
8pm Arrival at Private Venue 1
The team arrived and introduced themselves to our hosts for this evenings investigation. It was decided at this point that after a prayer of protection and a beacon being created for spirits to make contact that the evening should begin with a séance.
All the team sat around a table and linked hands to build up spirit energy, Sam began to ask out and immediately small taps and bangs were heard coming from the hallway outside the door to the room where the team were sitting. The team decided to open the door to increase their ability to hear these tiny taps. It was noticed by one of the team that the curtain by the front door was moving, this was checked for draughts and there were no draughts present in that area. A candle was lit in the hope that the spirit would be able to move the flame in some way. The whole team sat with baited breath for the flame to get larger or smaller on request. It did this several times, also rocking from left to right as the spirit was asked to run by the flame.
The team decided that as the host had mentioned that the area with the most feeling was at the top of the stairs, they should all relocate to this area. Immediately as the team positioned themselves in this area footsteps were heard which seemed to come from the hallway at the bottom of the stairs. Josephine asked out for the spirit to make communication with us in anyway possible and then Mike noticed that a towel hanging over the banister rail was moving, he pointed this out to Sam who was positioned near to him. It was moving, but moving outwards slowly as though someone was holding it and gently moving it. At this point Susan began to cry, she wouldn’t talk she just wept gently and could not later explain what was wrong with her. Josephine decided at this point that she should get out her pendulum and start asking questions. Josephine has been red hot lately picking up on names, ages and dates and her pendulum gives her yes and no answers to confirm whether or not she is correct. As soon as she began to ask for the help of any spirits present with us that evening, the name Sarah came into her head, she asked if this was in fact the spirit trying to communicate with us and the pendulum swung in a clockwise motion to answer yes. The age 10 years old then came to her. Once again the pendulum swung in a clockwise direction to signify that yes Sarah was in fact 10 years old. Sarah was asked if she was a resident spirit in this house and she said no, she was asked if she was just passing by and the answer to this question was yes.
The team decided at this point to visit another room, this was one of the children’s rooms who live in the house, possible paranormal occurrences have been noted in this room too. Sarah continued to communicate with the team, in this room. Details of what was found out can not be released in this report for fear of distress to possible living relatives. All of the information is being verified by our historian. If it is possible to release these details at a later date more will be added to this report.
The team decide at this point to leave the spirits be for one night and the host was happy to know that there were no nasty spirits residing in their property. So after a closing down prayer, we moved on to the next private venue.
Note
There has also been the spirit of a young boy picked up on by our resident medium Mr John Wilson Green, in this property, this young boy also 10 years old is called Steven and according to the medium wants only to be acknowledged and to stay behind there to learn alongside the owners of this house. He then wants to move on to the light with the guidance from our medium. The home owner is happy to let Steven stay on the understanding that he doesn’t scare the children that live there.

As this venue had been paranormally investigated only a few weeks before the host of the venue, Leanne, requested that Ghosttrackers come back to conduct an investigation with a more mediumistic approach.
So along the whole team went with medium John W. Green in tow to find out what the spirits of this fabulous venue would show us this evening.
As John entered the shop, immediately he began picking up on the spirit of a girl. He said her name was Sarah, and that she would have been around the age of 17 - 28. The team stood around chatting with John about this girl for a while and heard the odd tap or bang but nothing major at this point.
It was decided by the team that the investigation should begin on the very top floor of this huge building. So everyone went upstairs, carrying torches and excited to hear from John who laid in wait for us up there in the attic.
Top Floor Attic Space
The team arrived at the very top of the building and once again straight away John started picking up on spirits in this space. He picked up on lots of children and rolls, these rolls would have been made from some sort of cotton or wool. This would be used for making the wicks for cannons. The children in this area would have worked and lived here, it was some kind of workhouse. John said that he would return to this room later to see if he could pick up on any other activity.
2nd Floor Warehouse Space
On this floor it was decided to make a circle whilst all the team and guests linked hands John would lead a prayer of protection for all involved. This he insists should be done before and at the end of every investigation. All concerned linked hands and John asked out for the spirits he was communicating with to make some sort of sound, something for everyone to hear. There were once again small taps and bangs but nothing really to shout about.
John decided to unlink and did a walk round of the room picking up on all the residual energies of what used to be… He paced back and forth and mentioned a heavily uniformed man, who he named the “Master at Arms”. He also said that there would have been another wall in this room, this would separate our Master at Arms from another very important person, the man who oversaw the writing of the ledgers of this very busy building. He walked into what he called “The writer’s” office and suggested that this person was very important because he actually had a fire lit in his room, he could tell this because he felt the warmth from it.
Also in this area, John picked up on the spirit of a man called “Arthur or Arty” as he said his name Arthur disappeared from John’s sight. He said it was as though he just wanted recognition, then he left. Leanne, the evenings host, was very shocked and surprised at this because she had been calling the spirit, she had allegedly experienced in this room before, Arthur.
1st Floor Warehouse Space and Manager’s Office
On this floor John picked up on the spirit of a lady who he likened to Hilda Ogden of Coronation Street. He said that she would wear curlers in her hair and that she would walk around singing like Hilda Ogden. This made the hosts laugh as they said that one of the staff, who shall remain nameless, you know who you are….does exactly that, minus the curlers.
John proceeded to walk past a rail of coat hangers and rattled them as he walked past, suggesting that this would be the kind of phenomena heard in this area. He then began to pick up on children once again; he said they would walk around this area in bare feet. This began to upset him a little as he likened it to slave labour, and said this is probably where the link with William Wilberforce would come in with this building. He said that Wilberforce would probably have visited to make sure the children were being treated as they should be. This place would also have a link to what John called “Little Parliament” this is another name he has often given to a pub further down the road “Ye Old White Heart” This is where link would have come in with Wilberforce too.
He explained that he was seeing drainage gullies similar to ones that would be seen in a mortuary but instead of blood flowing in these gullies would be some sort of pink watery substance.

Exploring the paranormal is not just about ghosts! At Ghosttrackers, although it’s our principle aim, if presented with other paranormal events, we will use our professional approach to investigate and ascertain what is going on. Last night we were met with such a challenge. We had taken the old Hull to Hornsea Railway track from Tweendykes Road, to Holderness Drain, passing Sutton, and Bransholme to investigate claims of the paranormal. The weather was fine, with no rain, wind at around 10 km/h, and average temperatures of around 16 degrees, Humidity was at around 60%, and there was slight cloud cover. The moon was in the Waxing Gibbous Moon phase, indicating a full New Moon is due. Along this stretch there have been numerous reports from children playing, to steam trains rumbling down the track. A white lady is said to haunt one of the bridges, and a large black cat has been seen in the fields closer to the drain. Ghosttrackers could not ignore all the phenomena, and with this in mind the team set out with equipment to document and record any activity. The night was fine and the moon provided much needed illumination as we walked towards the bridge which forms part of Church Street in Sutton. The group posed for photo's to enable us to ensure all the equipment was working in the field. Several of these shot's showed light anomalies and stranger still a weird blur on several images. It was difficult trying to ascertain whether this was equipment malfunction or a genuine paranormal event. Several photo's were taken along this stretch and several of these showed light anomalies, many of which people which people will claim are insects. Luckily we caught an insect on camera, and it does not look like a ball of light! Once out at the drain we switched on the Digi-Dictaphone and started recording with the night vision camera. We formed a circle and carried out a circle of protection. Being outdoors made it difficult to hear but we did detect some strange noises. Moans, children, horses hooves, and several noise's like trains approaching were heard, but it was hard to establish the point of origin. One problem we had was the noise from within the boundary of Kingston- upon-Hull seemed to be coming across the fields. Could this account for the noises that eyewitness have reported? After all, it is well known locally that this was a railway track at one point. As we headed back along track the sun had fully set and the only illumination was from the moon, and the occasional light along track. As we approached Sutton we decided to take a seat on one of the many picnic tables. It was then that we saw the strange lights.
The first of the two lights was spotted by Sam and Mike as the team took up positions in the park close to Sutton Village. The light was quite bright, but no other light's were noticed, nor was any sound detected. It appeared to travel from the South West and headed off parallel to the group towards the North East, before vanishing. Moments later another light, just as bright approached and headed towards the group, again from the South West heading towards the North East. As this light got closer it seemed to vanish. 1. Neither light emmitted any noise, 2. Neither light had flashing lights, 3. Neither light was travelling at speed, in fact they were quite slow, 4. Neither light re-appeared in the night sky. A plane or helicopter would have had some, if not all of the above characteristics, yet the lights observed did not. Is it possible there is another explaination?
It is quite popular for garden parties to release 'Chinese Candles' into the night sky. These are like hot air ballons, but much smaller, they contain a single candle which causes the light aeroframe to ascend into the night sky. These do not travel too fast, and it could account for the light just vanishing! At the moment we are exploring all our options, and it appears that these two aerial light anomalies, are at present unexplained!
We returned to the Church Street Bridge and as we passed we stopped to do some filming and take some photo's when animals in the vicinity went crazy! Now we had passed this spot earlier and all was well, yet this time something up on the embankment caused the animals to go crazy! This unsettled the group, who moved further away to gather their composure and gain some insight into what was there. Several pictures were taken and again anomalies were detected, but the strangest event was caught on camera. The night vision camera could not focus, leaving us with a blank screen, then several of the team noticed a light in the distance flashing. Several of the street lights seemed to be drained of energy and members of the group reported seeing a large hooded figure in black! For a moment we were bombarded with activity, from noises to strange lights and even figures! We left the area, still recording and closed it down once reaching our vehicles. The footage is being looked at, the still's are being poured over, and the Digi-Dictaphone is being listened to...an analysis will be posted shortly...watch this space

11pm Arrival at Private Venue 2
The team arrived at this, our second venue for investigation in one night. The host greeted the team with coffee and Hobnobs which were very welcome. We at Ghosttrackers would also like to thanks these hosts for making us feel so welcome and at such a late time in the evening.
The investigation once again began with an opening prayer of protection and a beacon of bright white light, this was to encourage spirit close to us once again. A candle was lit in the middle of the dinning table and a linking of hands also to create energy. The séance began with Josephine asking out for any spirits to make contact in anyway they could, by making a sound or affecting the light or touching someone. Straight away, once again, noises were heard in the next room, the kitchen. The candle did start to move slightly from left to right on request too. Once again Josephine decided to get out her pendulum. She requested that the spirit contact her through the pendulum. Instantly a name came to her of Peter, she asked for Peter to swing the pendulum in a clockwise direction if this was his name, it began to swing in a clockwise direction signalling that yes this was his name. Later lots more details came out that could possibly be verified by our resident historian Mike.
Name: Peter Smith
Lived: Avenues area of Hull
Worked with coal on trains
Aged: 45 at time of death
Died: 1935
It was found that Peter was there, in this property too, in his capacity as a protector of a porthole between this dimension and the spirit dimension. He was also in this house to learn from its occupants, and they of him. He said that he would move on when the time was right. This is what our resident Medium Mr John Wilson Green had picked up on during an earlier consultation with the residents. A description John had given, in that earlier consultation, was that Peter resembled “Hagrid” From the Harry Potter books. The hosts agreed that as Peter was doing a good job of protecting the house and it's occupants that they had no problem with him staying for a while.
Numerous amounts of taps and knocking sounds were seeming to come from the upstairs area of this house, so the team decided to move up to the area where the sounds were coming from. The whole team went to the master bedroom and sat on the big, comfortable bed. Jo and Sam started to ask out. It seemed, at this time, that activity had died down for the night, although it was noted that all the team were quite jumpy and on edge whilst being sat in this room. Asking out carried on for a little while longer and then it was decided that tonight’s very eventful evening should come to a close. The team returned downstairs to close the evening down by thanking the spirits for their help and asking that they remain where they were and not follow anyone home.
The hosts once again were left feeling very happy with the outcome of this evenings events and asked if the team could re-visit at some point over the next few months.
The team would like to also thank John Wilson Green for all his input into these very interesting investigations. Although he wasn’t actually present he did do a lot of work for the team in the background and his efforts are always very gratefully received by the team, Thanks John……

Shop Floor Ground Level
John picked up on the spirit of a lady in the very back area of the shop, close by what is the piercing room today. He said this lady was called Sarah and that she would be aged between 17 and 28 years old at her passing. This lady was a person of authority and would probably have worked here when it was another shop. Sarah remained in this area and John explained that she would stand shaking her head at what was there now, because it is wrong and would not have been there when she worked in this area. As John walked away from the piercing room area of the shop he began to get a picture in his head of Sarah with her face damaged and then was shown a car crash. He says that this is probably what caused Sarah’s passing. As he walked away he became aware of some more children, and the name Morgan came to him, he asked out what the name of the little girl was who he was seeing at this point and she replied to him “I like Lucy”. Later as he walked away another little girl came through to him and he said that this would be Lucy’s sister. These 2 little girls would have been killed when a WW2 bomb dropped in the area, as was most of their family. These would have been 2 very sweet little girls and quite often throughout the night all the team heard some sort of tapping as Lucy and her sister came out to play. Over by the main doorway of the shop John picked up on the spirit of someone who would have had half their face missing, he said that often folk might feel someone pushing them as they leave the shop; this would be the responsible spirit.
Alley way along side of Shop
As John walked out into this alley way he was drawn to the far gateway which leads out on to Whitefriargate. He said that in this area lingers the lost soul of a lady called Mary Green. This lady would have been murdered in a “Jack the Ripper” style murder, she would have been left for dead in this alley and later found.
Sam stood in a doorway whilst John was talking about Mary and began to feel a strong pain come over her forehead. She mentioned this to John as he walked back toward her, he said there was a man standing right there on that doorstep and if she moved that the headache would go. Sam stepped off the doorstep and walked away, instantly the headache did disappear as fast as it came on. John stood there and said that this man was an evil man. He said that this man said to him “You can call me Frank” but John said that he knew this wasn’t his real name. This man was the one responsible for the treacherous murder of Mary Green. Jo was asked to stand on the step too, to see if she got the same feeling as Sam did, instantly she did. Then came the turn of Leanne, the manageress of the shop. She too said she felt something, but didn’t like the feeling and jumped straight off. In this area too, John picked up on the spirit of a large man with a huge book. This man would have been responsible for the deliveries going in to and from this building, overseeing horse drawn carriages and the loading of the goods. He described the man as large and with a long coat on with lapels and frills on his collar. He said that this man was a man of importance. There were also children in this area, once again working to load up the carriages and send the good off on their way to big ships which would be waiting in the docks.
This was the time the whole team decided to call it a night, John had picked up on many spirits in this fascinating old building and was beginning to tire. So all equipment was collected together and the team left the staff of the Blue Banana happy at the outcome of this evening’s investigation.

On Wednesday, 6th August, Ghosttrackers were invited to conduct a paranormal investigation at the Lonsdale Centre on the junction of Anlaby Road and Lonsdale Street. The team were in high spirits and ready for what might happen during our time at the Centre, however, nothing could prepare us for the night ahead. The moon was in it’s waxing crescent phase, at only 37% full, and an external temp of 17 Degrees Celsius during the day and 12 Degrees Celsius during the investigation. With 996 Millibars of external air pressure and a relative humidity at 66%. Lonsdale Street is named after the Earl Of Lonsdale and plans were submitted for the streets construction in 1889 by Architect Thomas Beercroft Atkinson and Joiner W E Hunter. The street was primarily the home to “White collar” workers such as teachers, managerial staff and clerks. Over the years it has expanded from it’s 16 houses in the 1889/90 Ordnance and Survey map, to 22 by 1892, and 35 by 1896. A small parcel of land was bought for the creation of a new Presbyterian Church, which was to front Anlaby Road. This was to replace the former Walton Street Mission Hall.
Baseline Tests The investigation began at 21.00 hours with base line readings taken of the building, everything seemed fine until a spike was reached of 1 Milligauss, near the main entrance. The reading seemed to occur one minute only to vanish the next. Another interesting spike occurred in the main café area, when a spike of 10 Milligauss was recorded. To rule out any electrical wiring or junction boxes a voltage detector was run along the wall, picking up no readings until it reached a socket, a great distance away. In fact in the corner there were nothing more than chairs and a window. Nothing was detected on the floor or walls and the ceiling was high. Interior temperature at this point was 23 Degrees Celsius with Humidity at 69%.
1st Floor Landing Co-Director Sam led a prayer of protection and the team moved to the first floor, upon reaching the higher level we noticed that the temperature had risen to 25 Degrees Celsius, with Humidity dropping to 63%. We put the increase down to heat rising, but were informed that no heaters were on, or had been turned on during the day! The group assembled around a table, with a joining of hands and Sam asking out. Almost immediately a series of knocks and taps were heard, footsteps followed and loud bangs came from high over the main hall. Mike mentioned the possibility of rain, but upon inspecting the nearest window, the ground was dry and there was no sign of rain nor wind. During this time the temperature rose another 1 Degree Celsius, again we put this down to the group being in one place, their body temperatures creating a rise. Our guide for the evening explained that the glass roof can create a greenhouse effect, but it had never happened during the evening! A glass was produced for glass divination, and this time Co-Director Josephine asked out, no movement was recorded but noises in response to questions were heard again. Loud thumps and bangs were also heard.
Office 1 After some time the group walked around the 1st floor landing, overlooking the main hall and a small office was opened for our next destination. Upon entering the office I took yet another temperature reading and noticed that it was a steady 27 Degrees Celsius. After standing for a short while in the office we all noticed a noticeable drop and the temperature had dropped to it’s lowest point of the evening, just 24 Degrees Celsius. The office was no more than a few feet wide and was box like, one window looking out onto the street, but no draughts were detected and the window was firmly shut. Our combined physical presence in this room should have sent the temperature up, but for some inexplicable reason it dropped.
Break
Ground Floor Hall After the break we decided to try glass divination on the ground floor in the main hall, but again the glass never moved, we did get audible phenomena coming from the balcony area, loud banging in response to questioning and the sound of shuffling. Jo counted through the decades and got an audible response during the 1940’s, counting through the years again a response to the year 1943. These bangs were so loud they were caught on the locked off camera, which was positioned facing the group and had us all in focus.
Conference Room We then decided to go upstairs to the main conference room, and sat in silence, it was decided a male should ask out so Mike took up the challenge and was met with taps and bangs. Mike asked for more, some sort of massive sign to give us proof we were not just listening to the creaks and groans of an old building. We decided to open the doors to the conference room, so that we could also hear the noise from the main hall, when Dave, our guide for the evening informed us an alarm was going off!
Alarm Box We quickly ran to the junction box and checked the intruder alarm, which had been triggered! This is strange as we were the only people in the building, we were all in the same room on both camera and audio recording, yet something in the building set off the alarm! The best was yet to come, Dave informed us that the alarm had been completely switched off as we would be walking around the building! Something turned on the alarm and triggered it! This remains unexplained, at least until Dave gets back to us with more details. On looking at the video tape of the evening it was noted that all members were in full view and accounted for!
Conference Room We again returned to the conference room and received knocks in response to questions, the temperature at levelled out at 24 Degrees Celsius, and several light anomalies were caught on camera.
1st Floor Landing The group split into 3 teams of two and each took 1 side of the square balcony, leaving only 1 side unmanned. We sat in silence and recorded a few bangs and taps, and took this opportunity to take some pictures of the impressive hall. John Wilson Green Walk around Main Entrance John arrived at a little after midnight and upon walking into the building picked up on a man, still living with a leg problem. He described the man as hardworking and motivational. Dave knew immediately that John had picked up on Pete, one of the workers at the Lonsdale Centre. Pete is an inspiration and a very hardworking member of the team at the centre.
Main Hall John picked up on a lady called Tracey in the main hall, suggesting she had worked in the kitchen area. Suddenly John felt a lady called Maud enter the hall, she was a stocky lady and quite negative. She was barking orders and angry at the lack of discipline. She wore a green army uniform, with black shiny shoes and was barking orders at several cadets. It was then that John picked up on the ropes and benches. He stated that the ropes were hanging from the ceiling and people were waiting. The Ordnance Survey Map of Hull 1889/90 shows this plot of land as empty. This was after Michael O’Connell and Sons had a rope and twine manufacturing company on this very site!
1st Floor Landing Upon entering the 1st Floor Landing John picked up on a boy hanging himself, and gave the date 1954. The name “Teskie King” was also given, and the child revealed he had hung himself as he had been the victim of bullying! He told us his parents name, as the date is so recent we are keeping this under wraps until we find out more, so as not to upset any living relatives. “Teskie King” was a school for children with learning difficulties and was once situated in North Hull.
Conference Room John entered and picked up on a meeting, with people sat in a circle, talking about addictions. Without a doubt, various meetings have been held in this room and continue to do so to this day.
Office 1 John walked up to the office were the group had experienced strange temperature fluctuations, and shouted “Watch”. He signalled that someone in the office was shouting “Watch” as in a time piece.
Office 2 In the adjacent office, John picked up on a Merchant Seaman, upset that he was too ill to return to sea, but who had passed during his time working at this location.
Computer Suite John picked up on a portal in this computer suite, guarded by a man called Ben, who was unhappy at the high level of spirit coming and going from this area. The strange thing is, several group members felt queasy, dizzy and reported seeing light’s in their peripheral vision in this same spot. Immediately below was were the group had picked up the 10 Milligauss reading on the EMF hours earlier.
Stairs John picked up on several “Girl Guides” running past him on the staircase. The building has been used for meetings of various youth groups from Scouts, Cubs, Boys Brigade, Brownies and of course Girl Guides.
Café John picked up on a lady sat in the corner of the café under the computer suite were the group had picked up high levels of EMF earlier. She was slim and quite bony, and called herself “Maisy” She was singing a song “Daisy Days and Dozy Do’s” over and over again, and showing anger at some of the activities the building is now used for. The building was constructed with the intention of it being a school hall for the adjacent Presbyterian church, which at one point fronted Anlaby Road. John also picked up on certificates being issued for cleanliness and food.
Kitchen- Café John walked into the kitchen and up to the certificates and asked if they were written in the café, Dave, our guide for the evening nodded “Yes”. He picked up on people prepping food, especially soup for people in large amounts and picked up on Pete, making “Broth”, of which he was very proud. Pete was approached at a later date and confirmed that he did make the broth and was very proud of his own recipe!
Ghosttrackers would like to say a big thank you to everyone at the Lonsdale Community Centre for making us feel so welcome last week.

After a long 5 hour drive up the A1 to Scotland we drove through the narrow and steep back roads of Scotland to the tiny and very quaint village of Gifford. We arrived at this beautiful and very rustic location at around 3.45pm after setting off at 10 am that morning. We were met by our fantastic host Frankie, who made us all a well needed coffee and introduced us to his public house that holds the same alter ego name as Yester Castle, The Goblin Ha!
We walked around the lovely village and were met by some of the locals who also made us feel very welcome. Steve even commented on how “They have different money up here don’t they” which made us all laugh. This was the first of many, many laughs we had as a team from the very beginning of this fabulous investigation. Frankie told us to go and wait by the park and he would pop home from work to get changed and then take us on the trek up to the eagerly awaited Yester Castle.
We entered the grounds of Yester Estate led by our host and leader Frankie. He took us through the massive gates and onto a long, long winding road. The road led us to the frontage of the most beautiful building I had ever seen, the Yester estate. As we arrived at this point a man called over to us, Frankie shouted to reassure him it was him and the team from Hull, this man turned out to be the dreaded gamekeeper we had all read about in the reports from others visiting Yester Castle. Frankie assured us that “Keith” knew we were there and that we would be very safe from his gun.
A short while later we arrived at the very craggy and muddy pathways in the magnificent Scottish woodland surrounding Yester Castle. The paths were literally mud soaked quagmires and in places you sank to your ankles deep in the sodden ground. Steep hills with slippery slopes took us along the gamekeepers routes through this woodland, nettles and thorns cutting and stinging our legs, and the only things to hold on to whilst climbing up the steep slippery hills was each other apart from the occasional spindly branch from a tree. This walk went up and down hills and through the forest for nearly 2 miles, half way a break had to be taken by Steve and Sam, the two smokers, who by this time were virtually coughing their lungs up. Luckily the drinks were handy in the bags and the others didn’t mind taking a short break either.
Along the winding pathways through the grass and thorns for another thirty minutes or so until we came to a small clearing, Frankie pointed up and said “Look there she is!” in his very sexy Scottish accent I might say…he he…
We looked up and in amongst the trees just up a hill above where we stood was the top of the castle poking through the treetops. An amazing site after the walk we had just taken to get there. Phil walked off excited to get up to the top of that hill and we had to call him back as he had taken the long, more dangerous route. We walked up the hill tentatively as this too was very muddy and slippery. Again holding onto tiny branches to steady ourselves.
We were there, Yester Castle ruins…..
We searched for somewhere to set up camp, it was decided that we should erect the tents on the very top of the Goblin Ha! This was a beautiful spot by daylight, but by night was very, very dark. Overhung by trees and down either side of us was an 80ft drop down into the stream below. The tents were put up, one was a pop up one, this was to be Co-Director Sam’s and in with her would be the newest team member Phil. The other tent was one that needed building and the task was taken on by Mike and Steve. You tube video’s will be online soon. (he he)
This was the point when Steve “The Cook” Baker decided to feed Team Yester. He lit the barbeque and on it he placed his sausages and kebabs. Sam got in her tent and made herself at home. Whilst Mike and Phil watched Steve doing his thing. Equipment was prepared by Sam for the night ahead and the investigation, which we all had waited so long for.
The time had come for Frankie to leave the four of us on that hill. Before he left Sam decided that Frankie must also be included in the prayer of protection, this was as he was about to take the long arduous trek back through the woodland to the safety of his home for the night. The prayer of protection was led by Sam and as all the team linked hands Sam asked for Frankie and the team to be protected for the duration of our stay in the Woods of nearby Gifford Village.
The team made our way to the above ground tunnel, we took a seat inside the relative comfort from the wind of the Archers Window. Taking time for our eyes to adjust to the pitch darkness that surrounded us, we sat for a few moments before asking out to spirit. Sam asked that any spirits who may be close by show us a sign of their presence by making a sound. At this point the wind started getting really strong, branches were swaying in the wind and it was difficult to make out the sound from anything apart from the nearby stream flowing and this strong gusty wind.
Sam continued to ask for spirits to make contact but the sounds surrounding the team made it so difficult to hear anything. Twigs and leaves fell from the trees in the wind and occasionally made the team jump, until it was noted that this was all it was, just the twigs. The handheld night vision camera was taken out at this time to film some of the things going on around the team. Mike started his voice recorders and Sam carried on asking out for the spirits to do anything they could to show their presence. It was at this time Mike noticed that his voice recorder had totally drained, he has put fresh batteries in this before he left the tents. Then when he put more batteries in the voice recorder showed as though all files were full. Mike had completely emptied files especially for this trip and there should have been 5 times 24 hours worth of recording time on them, but the files still showed as full. Maybe the spirit was draining this recorder and making the files show as full. Later we would find out.
Phil got out his pendulum and decided this might be a good idea for making some sort of connection. He asked for his Yes to be shown, and the pendulum swung in a clockwise direction, then asked for his No to be shown and this time the pendulum swung in an anti-clockwise direction. Phil then asked for any spirits who may be around to speak with us through the swinging of the pendulum, it stayed completely rigid. Not a single movement, then he asked if the spirit with us didn’t want to communicate, instantly the pendulum swung in a clockwise motion indicating a definite NO!
This shook the team slightly and it was decided at this point to move on. We went back to the camp area and to give each other a well earned and needed break we had a drink and stood chatting for a few moments to build ourselves up to what was to come next. The Goblin Ha!
The team took the very steep and dangerous walk down the hill round in a half circle down to the Goblin Ha! The pathway down the hill was no wider than 30 cm and was as muddy as the rest of the walk we had earlier taken. Side stepping was the only way we could make it down this hill. Holding on to the small branches for balance once again. Eventually we made it to the tiny entrance to the hall, a small metal gate was already open and inviting us inside to sample the delights of the inner chamber.
The only way into this place was to crouch and bend down along the small tunnel and out into this beautiful ancient hall. The site was fabulous, The high ceiling with 15 long plinths holding it all up. The two windows with huge portcullis style bars on them were the only source of light from the outside world and the night sky. The underground tunnel entrance, looking inviting to any self respecting ghost hunter. This was what we had all been waiting for, we were here. The investigation was really about to begin. The only way of seeing in this huge hall was by torch light now, it was 11.15pm and the night sky was at its darkest. Hands in front of faces were not even visible.
It was decided that this would be the best time to start taking pictures of the hall, so Sam, Mike and Steve took as many pictures as they could asking out all the time for spirit to show themselves in any way they could. On investigation of this chamber, tea lights from past teams were seen to be strewn around the place, some in gaps in the walls, some on boulders and rocks on the floor. Ghosttrackers were annoyed that such a lack of care for this beautiful place had obviously been shown.
The team moved some of the masonry that had been left around the hall into a circle and sat around 3 tea lights which were now lit on the floor in the centre of room. This was to create a circle. Sam asked out once again for spirits to make contact with the team in any way possible. Instantly small taps and knocks were heard. Again because of the building being so open to the elements and the sounds from the stream outside nothing at all could be put down to paranormal activity. This was until Mike, (who had been back to the tents and picked up another voice recorder) heard a small bleeping sound coming from his voice recorder in his pocket. Once again the batteries had drained completely, all the files were showing as full. There can be no explanation for this happening as he had a total different one from the one that had failed earlier. Although Mike did say that he would contact the manufacturers of the recorders as soon as he returned home.
Sam suggested that one of the boys might ask out now for activity and Mike and Phil came forward to do this. Again small knocks and taps were heard by all but nothing of any significance. The boys were all looking at the tunnel, Sam knew that what they wanted was to get down there and check it out. Due to the safety aspects Sam stated categorically at this point that it was NOT an option. The looks on the faces of Mike and Steve said it all to her. After a long and hard think she found it in her to let them have their own way and allowed them to go down the tunnel but only as far as the broken bits of masonry and ceiling would let them, they were to go no further than that.
Phil shone his daylight torch down for them so that they could see as this was the darkest place in the whole of Yester Castle. This too was the only way that Sam could actually pick the boys up on camera even with the night vision on the handheld video camera, this was just how dark the tunnel was.
So Mike and Steve went down the tunnel whilst Sam and Phil stood at the top, Phil shining his torch and Sam filming. Nothing of real importance happened down that tunnel either. Which led us all to believe that maybe as this tunnel had been blocked off by someone, maybe just maybe this had also blocked in the spirits of Yester Castle.
After sitting down in the circle again when the boys returned from the depths of the dark tunnel. Sam suggested that Phil get out his pendulum for one last try at communication. Again he got his Yes and his No but when asking for the spirits to communicate, absolutely nothing, the pendulum was once again rigidly steady. The midnight hour approached and the team agreed that they wanted to remain down here for the hour to pass by, so more photographs were taken and then the team retired back to the tents for a few hours sleep. We would be back later at 3am for another vigil and to see whether any other spirits might come out at a different time.
3.15 am The team awoke and stood around for a while in the cold night air, for their eyes to adjust to the light. It was decided that we go back to the above ground tunnel for a vigil first. Sam and Steve sat on an old felled tree log and Mike and Phil positioned themselves against the wall of the tunnel. Sam began to ask out once again. Within moments of Sam asking out, the tree stump underneath Sam and Steve moved forward, as if trying to push them off. Steve pushed back hard with his bum, thinking that it was Sam moving it. Sam did the same, thinking it was Steve moving it. They both stood up and walked over to Phil and Mike and remained there for some time after.
Phil asked out again, whilst he did this movement seemed to be all around us. The place had a whole new feel to it, and the team became slightly jumpy. Sam kept seeing flashes in front of her eyes, and explained it like it was lightening flashes. Sam asked if this was spirits doing this to her and if the spirit could show someone else. Instantly Phil started getting the same thing happen to him. We do not have a clue what that was all about but it seems funny that both Sam and Phil witnessed the self and same thing.
Steve and Sam went back to the log to sit down and recreate what had happened earlier, Sam tried on her own to push the log forward. It would NOT move, so Steve sat beside her and they both tried together to move the huge felled tree. Again…NO movement. How can this be explained?…We don’t know….
At around 4 am the team went back down that steep slippery slope to face the Goblin Ha once more. Once again sat in a circle, Sam asked for the team to stand and link hands again in the hope of building some more energy. This we did and we asked out for more signs from any astral beings that may be present. Temperature spikes of 2 or 3 degrees were recorded on several occasions whilst the group were seated in the Ha! These were in areas where no-one either standing or had been stood. We reluctantly left the hall feeling slightly let down by Sir Hugo and all his goblins.
The team returned to their tents after taking a few more pictures as this would be the last visit down here. The walk was taken with a slight sadness that Yester had not opened up to us. On this occasion it seemed that she wanted to keep all her secrets from us, it has been suggested that we go back on another occasion and due to the total enjoyment of the time we had there…..it seems Ghosttrackers may just go back….
Frankie arrived at the camp for approximately 9am to pick us up and take us on the long hike back into Gifford Village. When we arrived back in the village we were met by some of the locals who were amazed that we had made it through the night. This castle is surrounded by so much legend and hype that the villagers flatly refuse to go up there by day never mind night. We ate some lovely flat Scottish sausage sandwiches at the local café and drank the best cup of coffee in the world. Then packed our kit said our goodbyes to our fabulous host Frankie and got back on that road to Hull.
A short note from Sam
A totally amazing time was had by all in Scotland. The people were so friendly and welcoming to us and made us feel right at home. As I write this it brings a slight tear to my eye that today one week ago we were on our way home, after the best adventure I personally had in my life. The boys had been total gentlemen on that trip. I thank each and every one of them for making it so special for me. Here’s to the next trip up there Team Yester!…Sam..x

On arrival at our very first investigation, as Ghosttrackers, to this beautiful and very historical building, we were greeted by our host for the night. Then off we went to the downstairs bar to set up the base room for this evening. Our host mentioned that there had been some activity recently in this area so Josephine decided to sit in this area on her own whilst the rest of the group were shown around the building by our host, Stuart. This was to make sure that all health and safety procedures were adhered to...i.e. to ensure that members, who had not been before, were aware of all the fire exits etc. They were also shown around the multitude of rooms and dark corridors before returning to the base room. Josephine then went to a seperate room to take paranormal analysis notes from Stuart to find out what activity had been apparent over the last few months in the building.
Whilst Josephine took the notes Sam and Mike lead the team around the building to conduct the baseline checks.
Foyer Temperature 21-22 Degrees C Humidity 72%
Main Auditorium Temperature 22 Degrees C Humidity 72% There was a Temperature drop in this area of 2 Degrees but the Humidity remained the same.
Upper Circle Temperature 18 Degrees C Humidity 60% When the team walked from left to right of the Upper Circle The Temperature went up by 2 Degrees and Humidity went down to 59%. Within 2 minutes the Humidity again increased to 62%.
Box A Temperature 22 Degrees C Humidity 57%
Box B Temperature 24 Degrees C Humidity 57%
The team then entered the corridor stage left and the Temperature reading was 20 Degrees C and 60% Humidity, by the time we had walked down the corridor to stage right the Temperature rose to 21.7 Degrees C and the Humidity dropped to 56%. We then went back up to the Foyer and the Temperature was still at 21 Degrees but the Humidity had dropped dramatically from 72% earlier to 47% in just 20 minutes.
MAIN AUDITORIUM The investigation began in the Main Auditorium area, just in front of the stage, with the team linking hands for a prayer of protection, led by Sam. Jo and Sam both asked out for any spirits present to make themselves known in whatever way possible, Sam felt a slight tickle on her face at one point and said it felt like a feather down the side of her face, it was brought to her attention that this can be a sign that spirit is close to you. Jo also felt some slight breezes on her arms at this point. It was also noted that the whole room seemed to be so dark on this occasion and that there was no way of even seeing your hand in front of your face.
The team decided to move to the back row of the auditorium and ask out there. So everyone took their seats along the very back row. After several minutes were allowed for the team to adjust their eyes to the severe darkness of this room, Sam and Jo once again began to ask out to spirits to show themselves in whatever way they possibly could. The night vision camera at this point shows a very fast and bright light anomaly. Stuart was seated right at the end of the middle seating area, and was seemingly affected by something when he realised he had a tear flowing down his cheek. He said he felt as though a little boy was sitting beside him in an empty chair and believed this is what was causing him to cry. Stuart requested a break at this point, so the team retired to the base room to discuss the next port of call.
THE STAFF ROOM The team went into this room and seated themselves around the table, and then began to ask that a glass be moved by spirit as a way of communicating with us. After several minutes of asking for this the glass began to move. I have now been on loads and loads of investigations and have personally never seen the glass move as dramatically as it did on this occasion. It seemed we were communicating with a spirit that may have some connection with Stuart (our host) as he stepped away from the table; the glass seemed to follow him. He opened a door in this room and as he did the glass began to spin in an anti-clockwise motion which was an indication of our NO. Sam noticed this and asked is it because Stuart had opened the door. To which the glass stopped spinning anti-clockwise and instantly began spinning clockwise to indicate YES. Sam got up and went to the door; she said “look I am opening the door too! Is that ok?” The glass instantly started to spin anti-clockwise again indicating NO. So she hurriedly shut the door and locked it. It has been suggested in the past that this area might be some sort of porthole in which spirits use to travel between this world and theirs. We asked if this person communicating with us is the guardian of the porthole and the glass indicated YES! As the glass came to a halt Sam and Stuart both heard a growl, so we asked the spirit communicating if there was a dog and it answered YES! Many questions were asked of the spirit and to protect any possible living relatives, it has been decided not to give out any names or details that were found out during this divination. On checking photographs taken during this session, it was found on one particular picture that there is an orb above the door to the so-called porthole. Also on inspection of the video tapes, 3 more light anomalies were clearly visible. One being very different to any captured before, it has been described as cobweb-like. The whole team decided after a while to move on to the next venue….
THE DRESSING ROOM CORRIDOR When we arrived in the “dreaded” corridor Stuart asked if the team fancied taking up a challenge, he wanted us to walk the length of the corridor in the dark holding a night vision camera on to our faces. Some of the team had already experienced this and jumped at the chance to do it again, but only after Stuart actually took up his own challenge.
Then we, as agreed earlier that evening split up into two groups, one to take one end of the corridor and the other to sit at the opposite end. Then each team had a nominated person who would dowse using their pendulums. Questions would be asked of spirit and this was a test to see if the same answers would be found upon asking the same questions.
Josephine, Susan and Phil all have pendulums and it was decided to use all 3 in this experiment. Sam would ask a question out loud and then in turn Jo would. It was found with the use of the pendulums that we were allegedly surrounded by spirit. The one possibly moving the pendulums was male and used to work in this building. The pendulums agreed on most of the answers given to questions asked only one or two answers were different. It was found that we were possibly talking to the spirit of a gentleman whose bones were found in-between the walls of this building. Again to protect people we cannot go into much detail as to what was found out during this investigation to protect any surviving family members. The corridor holds some dark secrets and is very scary due to its set out. With doors either side of you as you walk down it, it is very disorientating in the dark and any second you feel like either someone will jump out on you or you will fall into one of the many dressing rooms. We found that this may be what causes the uneasy feeling in this area during investigations.
UPPER CIRCLE We decided to sit down in the very back row and ask out for activity in this area. We split into 3 groups and each took their places in this 3 different seating areas but right along the back row. Not much happened during this time, but, on watching the film footage a very visible light anomaly shoots across the screen as Sam is asking out again.
THE BOXES The team once again split into 2 groups to investigate these areas. It was noted that some coins which had been set up as trigger objects had seemingly moved. They had been set up using talcum powder and it is not really known whether or not the slight incline in the edge of the boxes could be to blame for the movement of them or if it was a paranormal occurrence. The movement was so slight that it was hard to tell. One thing happened whilst up in the boxes, Sam said she noticed a light that seemed to come from outside the door area to the box where the other team were seated, on browsing through pictures taken at that time there is a very clear light anomaly visible in that exact area. What could this be? It seemed the spirits of The Hull New Theatre by this time had given up on us. Nothing more happened on this night. The team decided after about 20 minutes to swap boxes and ask out again. Once again nothing seemed to happen. After a further 20 minutes or so asking out it was decided to call it a night. So the team gathered together all the equipment and get ready for the off.
Stuart and Ben were thanked for their kind hospitality and allowing us to access this wonderful and seemingly active building. We do hope that sometime very soon we can return and investigate this fantastic and beautiful theatre.
When Josephine had been sat on her own in the base room (downstairs bar area) she heard loud knocks, bangs and movement coming from behind the bar area and also in the kitchen. She had a phone call from her mother and whilst on the phone all noises stopped...as soon as the phone was put down they started up again. She asked Stuart to clarify what had been happening in the bar area of late and he confirmed that when another paranormal group had been in, very recently, the same sort of noises had been heard...also smells of cakes/muffins were noted previously.
PARANORMAL ANALYSIS NOTES
-
A paranormal group who had been in previously were up in the dress circle. One of them took a photograph of one of their members and in it appeared to be someone stood, next to them, holding onto the hand rail. This same night the group had sensors set up in the circle and these were set off three times
